OCTAVIAN FANCAST

Jason Bonell, Tyree Brown, Andrew Miller, Brody Rose, Samuel Joslin, Jadon Sand

I really cannot judge the ages of children. Some of these are child actors in the general range of eight. Some of these are pictures of child actors that have now grown up into teenage actors. Some of these might be pictures of toddler actors. I just know all of them make me think of LA Institute resident cutie, Tavvy Blackthorn. And it’s really all about the heart.

Jason Bonell: A child. Smiling. Please let Tavvy smile.

Tyree Brown: Curls! And that smile.

Andrew Miller: Eyes, brown hair.

Brody Rose: Eyes. Looks sad.

Samuel Joslin: Very fashionable kid. Probably dressed by Malcolm.

Jadon Sand: Such a Tavvy. Look at the curls. And he’s so happy.

Tavvy Blackthorn naming his toys after everyone he’s lost and doesn’t remember.

Helen, a musical voice cut by static on the other end of a phone line, a grainy picture of a beautiful girl with tired eyes on the computer screen, her name goes to one of Dru’s old dolls, with yellow yarn hair and plush body made for hugging tight, so he can pretend it’s his lost sister hugging him, as he has dim memories of her once doing.

Aline, her ever present shadow, is the oversized floppy rabbit that practically dwarfs him. He likes lugging her around and sitting with her like a pillow.

He plays pretend with the battered Ken and Barbie doll, and pretends they’re mommy and daddy and they live in the dollhouse with all their children, and at night they sit on the dresser next to his bed.

Andrew and Eleanor, the names Uncle Arthur whispers sometimes, when Livvy smiles or Julian is especially tall, those names go to the canvas teddy bear he got when he was born, and the squishy lifelike frog Ty gave him for Christmas. It takes him a while to figure out mommy and daddy and Andrew and Eleanor are the same.

Katerina, who was once their tutor and died, she’s the serious stuffed owl, because when Tavvy asked Julian said that Katerina was very smart.

Mark’s name moves around a lot, sometimes the leader of the antique tin soldiers that live in a bucket, sometimes the nearest Lego figurine, sometimes Emma’s old American girl doll that came with her from the Carstairs house and ended up in the nursery, who is a girl but has blonde hair like Helen.

Nerissa is another name Uncle Arthur sometimes says, and she’s the dark haired princess doll in the pink silk dress, because it sounds like a princess name. Calling the other toys by their names makes everyone upset, but Nerissa only upsets Uncle Arthur, so she gets named the loudest.

Today’s sketch page is Dru and Tavvy themed, for reasons that should become obvious shortly. Most of them are self explanatory, but for reference; Green: Horror Movie Night (Dru, that’s not for baby brothers.), Brown is baby Tavvy a few months old and already motherless, Purple is little Dru with her braids and her sword ready to fight, Pink and Blue are face sketches and the bad gold and black drawings are by Tavvy of his list siblings. Man, this family has been through the wringer.

Just realized that Octavian Blackthorn is probably going to be filling the same “sweet innocent (smol) child in the conflict” role that Max Lightwood filled and I swear if anyone kills my precious angel baby Tavvy there will be blood.
